SCS caps 2015 with a bang

    Before the Year of the Sheep (2015) signs off, the whole St. Claire School community pursued different endeavors.

Panunuluyan 2015

    St. Claire School revisited Bethlehem, the birth of Jesus Christ, through choral renditions and dubbed stage play. The Panunuluyan 2015 was originally brainedchild by no less than    Ms. Elma F. Pedregosa to showcase the true spirit of Christmas. 

Benefit Concert Year 3
    Tagged as FUSION, this year’s benefit concert was lauded because of the heart stopping performances and soothing renditions of the selected talented Claireans. It was presented by the MAPEH Department in cooperation with the Student Activities Office and hosted by James Esguerra and Johan Mendoza. 

Community Party
     After the series of students’ parties, it was time for the teachers and staff to enjoy the balloons, music, and good food but most especially the company of each other. This gave them time to bond and cheer in the spirit of Christmas.         




Seniors dominate HSD2015

     

      With their cool moves and creative choreography, the Blue & White Team conquered the dance floor during the High School Dance 2015 held on December 18, 2015 at the SCS Multi-Purpose Hall. The Juniors and the Sophomores came second and third respectively.

       
      Meanwhile, Ralp Reyes and Patricia Roxas, both from the senior class were named FACES OF THE NIGHT. Roxas also bagged the Gorgeous Blue and Female Fashion Icon Awrad.  
    Tagged as Crossover, this annual gathering of high school students after the rigorous year-round academic training is one of the activities that promote the development of interpersonal intelligences among Claireans.


Claireans challenge ACLE2015




    Tired of the usual pen and paper learning route, Claireans challenged the Alternative Classroom Learning Experience through Paglalakbay 2015 held on the first week of November 2015.

       For Preschool to Grade 3 students, they observed the basics of baking at the Goldilocks Cake Plant; experienced rainforest adventure at the RAVE through the Butterfly House, Mini Train, Mini Zoo; and had an interaction with the DreamWorks Animation Characters at the City of Dreams. Play and learn at state-of-the-art Dream Studio, Dream Tales Library, Science Exhibits, and Dream Theater.

      For the students from Grades 4 to 6, they learned more about the Philippine fauna through the Butterfly House, Mini Train, and Mini Zoo at the Rainforest Adventure, Pasig City; looked at how can they help conserve the irreplaceable aquatic resources at the Las Farolas, Pasig City; and enjoyed the company of their classmates at the Club Manila East, Taytay, Rizal.

       For the junior high school students, they learned the history, lives, and contributions of the Chinese in the Philippines at Bahay Tsinoy, Manila; took a closer look at the traditional arts that preserve Filipino artistic traditions, national culture, and Filipino artistry at the CCP Museum; followed the various episodes of the Army's evolution through visual arts subjecting the revolutionary heroes, medal for the AFP, and weapons of the army at the AFP Museum; and had a panoramic view of the ethnographic, anthropological, archaeological  visual artistry of the Philippines at the National Museum.

     The ACLE 2015 proved that learning is not only confined into the halls and walls of every classroom.

Junior DanzaClara smashes Smart Jump-In Dance Battle


            Led by their very talented Alumnus-Coach Cyril Catapang, SCS Batch 2014, the 16 bubbly and energetic junior members of the DanzaClara trooped the Smart Araneta Coliseum for the Smart Jump-In Dance Battle Year 3 on the scorching afternoon of October 30, 2015.
            During their performance, the crowd went wild as the young Claireans conquered the stage with their intricate dance routines, cool moves, and killing smiles.
            According to DanzaClara’s  moderator, Mr. Daniel C. Fajilan, the competition is divided into two folds: the performance and the text votes via the sponsoring telecommunications company SMART.
        At the end of the competition, the young Claireans bagged the coveted SOCIAL MEDIA AWARD.


SCS library gets ‘facelift’


          To provide the Claireans a more conducive reading hub, the Administration decided to give the school library a ‘facelift’. The existing tables and chairs were replaced with new furniture set to let the students enjoy their handpicked reading materials without being disturbed. They added a utility cabinet outside where the students can leave their bags and other personal belongings. They also acquired new titles of reference books, interest books, and children’s literature books. To keep the students abreast with the current events, the school renewed its subscriptions to the two leading broadsheets – The Philippine Daily Inquirer and The Philippine Star.

       According to Mr. Daniel C. Fajilan, the school librarian, SCS plans to acquire more titles and board games before this school year ends. Sir Dan said that this effort of renovating the school library only shows that St. Claire School values the immense contribution of reading in the development of the students’ study habits. 

2015 Family Day, Buwan ng Wika celebrated


       With the theme “Ang Pamilyang Sama-sama, sa Wikang Filipino Nagkakaisa”, the Claireans celebrated the 2015 family day and Buwan ng Wika on August 29, 2015 at the SCS Multi-Purpose Gym.
Besides the usual in-house academic  competitions such as poster making, essay writing, and slogan making, the committee added spice to the month-long celebration with song interpretation, poem writing, speech choir, and cultural dance contest. For Grades 4 to 10 students, this year’s family day was extra special since they got to bond with their schoolmates through the different team building games.

      At the end of the day, the students belong to the Grade 2, 6 – Charity, and 7 – Wisdom classes were declared winners. The Family Day and Buwan ng Wika Celebrations were led by the combined efforts of MAPEH and Filipino Departments.

Zafico, Otamias lead Batch 2015



Rachelle Anne T.  Zafico and Ma. Zyla O. Otamias, Fourth Year and Grade 6 students respectively lead the graduates for SY 2014-2015 during the joint Commencement Exercises on March 28, 2015 held at the SCS Multi-Purpose Gym.

Zafico, who is now taking up Bachelor of Science in Accountacy in one of the premier universities, believes that everything in life has a reason and that we are all called for definite destinies as how the heroes and heroines in the Greek Mythology Iliad and Odyssey survived. During the ceremony, Zafico also received Best in Math, Best in Science, and Best in English awards. She was likewise recognized for her contributions in the CAT bagging Service Award.

Meanwhile, Otamias, who now joins the Quezon City Science High School, told her fellow graduates to be diligent and continue to strive for excellence. Besides her Top Honors Distinction, she also brought the following special awards: Best in Math, Best in Science, Best in English, Best in Filipino, Best in Deportment, and Iquest 2015 Champion.


Zafico and Otamias, who were joined by the other 33 graduates, had sworn to keep the ideals and teachings of St. Claire School wherever their feet take them in the future.
